Background Information

Native American Woman:

Family is important to her

Recently lost her home & belongings
Taking care of her sick mother
She can barely take care of herself
Problem Statement

This woman has recently lost her home and personal items due to the fact that her
landlord did not allow her enough time to get her belongings out after being
evicted.

Someone else moved into her home and went through her belongings before she
could get them out.

She has barely any clothes or food.

She is living with her mother and taking care of her when she can barely take care
of herself.
Services We Can Offer

Resource list to connect her with resources she might need

Strengths & Limitations

A strength for this woman would be her spirit and strength

because she has lost almost everything but she is still able to smile
and show resiliency.

A limitation for this woman would be that she has basically

nothing so it is hard for her to get back on her feet. Her health is
not the best and she is trying to help take care of her mother who
has declining health as well.
Goals & Interventions

Her goal is to be able to take care of herself and her mother

without having to worry about necessities such as money for food.

An intervention method could be workshops that the center is

trying to put together for patrons to become more self-sufficient.

I am also working on a CARE Pal program that could be another

option to link her with resources and to just build a more personal
connection with her.
Questions

1. What are some biases you had going into the interview?
- I was unsure if she was going to be comfortable talking to me about her problems.

2. What were some value differences between you and the client?
- She valued her health and family. I do not value my health as much and value
education more than she does.

3. What events or life experiences have shaped them into the person they are?
- In the process of losing her belongings she lost a jacket that belonged to her
deceased family member. It had sentimental value to her.
Questions Cont

4. What is the staff recommendation about diagnosis, Interventions or treatment?

- There is the possible intervention of the workshops and resource guide to connect her with
resources. There is also the CARE Pal program that I am working on that could be a possible
intervention method.

5. What does research say on their diagnosis/problem/treatment?

- There was not a diagnosis so I did not have to do any research.

6. What changes do you recommend for the agency or service (Needs of agency, changes, and
rights issues)?
- I feel that the CARE Pal program would benefit the patrons in linking them with necessary
resources and give them a more personal connection with the patrons as well.
