TYPE OF SOIL AT ALOR SETAR, KEDAH
Kedah is one of the states in Malaysia & it is located in the north
of Peninsular Malaysia.
Kedah is rich in agricultural sector.

Most of the land in Kedah is lowland type.

In lowlands, various types of activities are carried out such as,

industrial, commercial, administrative areas, residential areas,
urban areas, agriculture and others.

Lowlands is suitable to be developed as township and

construction of transportation system .

Chang Chun is located in the eastern part of Songliao Plain in
northeast China. There are four seasons in one year: spring,
summer, fall and winter. The air is dry in spring, fall and winter,
however in summer it is usually warm and rainy. The major
soil found in Chang Chuns urban city area is black earth soil

Problem
Dilatation coefficient is big Repeatedly swell-shrink of soil
The structure displace and distort Structure failure

Solution
Replacement method
Improve soil properties by adding materials like lime or cement into
that swelling soil.
Add water into soil before construction.
SOIL TYPE IN SABAH

HIGHEST MOUNTAIN IN SOUTH-EAST ASIA

WHO EVER BEEN TO SABAH? ? . . .
Geologically, intrusive igneous rock occurs in 3 main area Crocker
Ranger, Tawau and Lahad Datu such as gabbro, dolerite and diorite.
Other than that, sedimentary volcanic formation like sandstone,
mudstone, shale, clay limestone at Labuk Kinabatangan, Segama
and Semporna and basically form Crocker Ranger formation.
Examples. . .
Lithosols, red/yellow latosols and podsolics 41% at
Crocker Ranger while Tawau and Lahad Datu soils on
steeplands derived from volcanic ash and conglomerate
Red/yellow latosols and podsolics 36% Dipterocarp
forests in the Kinabatangan/Segama area are found on
ferric and orthic acrisols and luvisols (mainly equivalent to
red/yellow podsolic soils) developed on low mudstone and
sandstone hills in undulating area . .
CONCLUSION
Different regions/state/country have
different types of soil
Why???
Influenced by climate, parent material,
organisms, topography and time.
