What is the problem?
Approximately 1.2 billion people suffer from hunger about 40 percent were children
The number of people in poverty increased from 33.3 to 48.8 millions people since
2000-2012
793 million people still suffer from hunger. UN can reduce the hunger but it is not
succesful yet.
Target
1. From 2005 to 2012, UN try to reduce the people who has income at least 1.25
dollars per day.
2. Between 1990 to 2015, UN try to halve people who suffer from hunger.
- Offer technical assistance and other advisory services to reduce poverty and
malnutrition.
- Use safety nets and nutrition programs to cushion the impact of the food and
financial crises.
Increase support for agriculture and food security
$4 billion in 2008.
Serve as trustee for the multi-donor Global Agriculture and Food Security
strategies.
The progress so far
Since 1990, more than 1 billion people have been lifted out of extreme poverty.
One in seven children worldwide are underweight, down from one in four in 1990.
Despite progress, almost half of the worlds employed people work in vulnerable
conditions.
The povery rate has decreased from 47 percent since 1990 to 14 percent in 2015
