By Iraj and Shreya

What is Ergonomics?
Ergonomics is the study of workers interactions with their working
environment.

- It is a way to make jobs and tasks more easier to do with comfort

- Ergonomics focuses on safety, health and well-being of

individuals

- Concentration on ergonomics is taken across leisure, work, etc.

What is ergonomic injury?

Ergonomic injuries are caused by the

presence of ergonomic risk factors,
including: Awkward or sustained postures,
forceful exertion or strain, contact
pressure.
Examples of Ergonomic Injury
- Musculoskeletal Injuries (MSIs): occurs
when a person is performing the same task
over and over again and muscles, nerves, etc
can be damaged.

- Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS): When

special nerves located in the hands are pinched
because of the wrist positioning.

- Scoliosis: Curvature of the spine caused by

sitting in a the same position for a long time.
Scoliosis is caused because of too much
negative pressure on the spinal cord forcing it
to form a S shape.

- Minor injuries can occur such as eyestrain,

How can ergonomic injury be prevented?
The easiest way to prevent ergonomic injury is to take regular breaks to
do some stretching exercises. Also changing postures and adjusting
your workstation can help.

Some stretches you can do:

Shoulder Shrug Head Glide Neck Relaxer Shoulder Roll
