Leveling
Group 7
Objectives
strategically establish turning points to eliminate
errors due to earths curvature and atmosphere
to establish elevations of control points around
acad oval from a known bench mark (oblation) by
three-wire leveling to establish 2 semi-permanent
control points/benchmarks around the sunken
garden within primary project control accuracy
standard (additional critetia: intervisble sa
nearest control pt at kita buong sunken including
trees, benches, posts etc paikot ng sunken.)
Instruments and
Accessories
automatic level
tripod
leveling rod
measuring tape
station markers (liquid eraser) since unahin nyo ang
leveling before traverse, kailangan nyo ng marker na
semi permanent kasi mageestablish na kayo dito ng
2 control points, need nyo ng nails, hammer or paint
Chalk pangmark ng TPs
2 cones
vests

Field Procedures
1. Construct a level loop around the academic oval in a clockwise
direction starting from the BM Oble and execute a double set-up, 3-wire
leveling.
2. Set up the instrument near BM Oble and sight the rod occupying BM
Oble.
3. Record the upper, middle, and lower hair readings as the backsight.
Using the stadia method, compute the distance between the instrument
and BM Oble.
4. Establish the first turning point and sight the rod once occupied.
Record the upper, middle, and lower hair readings as the Foresight. Make
sure that the distance between the instrument and TP1 is close to the
distance computed between the instrument and BM Oble. Ensure that the
distances from BM1 and TP1 to the instrument are almost equal by estimating the distances
through taping. Re-observe if necessary if the distances are significantly different. This is to
avoid accumulation of errors.
