INTRODUCTION

Maruti Suzuki India Limited, formerly known as

Maruti Udyog Limited, is an automobile
manufacturer in India. It is a subsidiary of Japanese
automobile and motorcycle manufacturer Suzuki
Motor Corporation.Maruti Suzuki manufactures and
sells popular cars such as the Ciaz, Ertiga, Alto,
Swift, Celerio, Swift Dzire and Omni.
HISTORY

It is an Automobile manufacturer in India,Formerly

known as Maruti Udyog Limited. Maruti was
established in February 1981, though the actual
production commenced only in 1983. It started with
the Maruti 800. Originally, 74% of the company was
owned by theIndian Government and 26% by Suzuki
of Japan. As of May 2007, the government of India
sold its complete share to Indian financial institutions
and no longer has any stake in Maruti Udyog.

MANUFACTURING PLANTS

Maruti Suzuki have two plants,one is Gurugram

plant and Second is Manesar plant.I am persuing my
training from Manesar plant.The plant is divided
into two parts,one is MPT means Maruti power train
plant where engines and transmissions of four
wheelers are manufactured and engine parts of two
wheelers are made.And the second part is Assembly
division where all four wheelers are assembled.
The MPT plant is further divided in differet
sections.Like;Engine Plant,Transmission
Plant,Maintainance,Forging ETC.

The department allotted to me is TRANSMISSION

QUALITY.In this department we inspect the various
components of four and two wheelers transmission
parts by checking their Roughhness,Contour,Tapering
Pitch or profile ETC.The parts came for quality
inspection are mainy Shafts like;Counter
shafts,Input shafts etc. Gears like
ITTAI,HIRA,ATSUNYU gear etc.
Tools used in quality check of
transmission parts
Micrometers

They are used for measuring various parameters of

shafts and Gears like:- OBD(outer body
diameter),Groove diameter,Spline diameter ETC.
There are various types of Micrometers
used in Quality checking of parts.
In previous slide there are two types of
micrometers are shown:
Pin micromter :- It is used where point ball
micrometers are not reachable like in the splines
of shaft.

Blade micrometer :- It is used in the grooves of

the shafts.
 Height gauge

It is used for
measuring height
of grooves in
shafts etc.
 Vernier caliper

It is used to measure
diameter,indepth of
groove etc of gears and
shafts.
 CNC Machines

They are used for measuring

Roughness,Contour,Angle,
Pitch etc of gears and shafts
CNC machines are for different purposes
CNC machine
Inthe previous slide the CNC shown is used for
checking the pitch,lead and profile of counter
shafts,Input shafts,Gears like HIRA gear,ITTAI gear
ETC.

The machine is already programmed for different

parts according to the company needs.

The timing of the checking of one part is almost 10

to 15 minutes.
