.Over the years the number of destinations
served by PIA has reduced and in contrast

outreached to 136 destinations across five
continents. DESTINATIONS IN DESTINATION IN

FLAWS IN
SERVICES
Flight delay
Flight cancellation
Unpleasant Cabin Crew.
Inordinate delays due to VIP Protocols.
Frequent employees Strike.
Ageing Aircrafts.
Poor Management
Nepotism
Fake Booking by Travel agents

31
PIA is over staffed; the number of people
per aircraft is very high: PIA has more than
430 employees per aircraft whereas the
international standard is around 100
employees.

One of the main problem in PIA is the

governance structure. There have been
compromises on merit, on commercials
consideration and on complying with law..

32
HOW TO REVIVE PIAS LOST
GLORY
Downsizing of Employees
In order to survive in market PIA must adopt downsizing of
employees
Hiring of Knowledge Workers
PIA must select knowledge workers that knows how to get
the job done and improve the performance of departments
Employee Reduction Strategies:
PIA must offer golden handshakes and early retirements to
the number of employees which are at surplus. This way
the organization can get rid of overloaded employees.

33
RECOMMENDATIONS
Recruitment and Selection process should be fair
and not biased i-e
Everybody should be selected on merit
Illegal discrimination should be avoided
(Race, Gender, Disability, Religion)
PIA should adopt transparent policy that
employees should be promoted on merit basis.
Chairman of PIA should be appointed
from within the organization.
Improve technical training programs
