Christian Education

and the Great

Commission
Matthew 28: 19 -20
Evangelism +
Christian Education

=Great Commission
Most Christians are pretty familiar with the great
commission. It was the last commandment that Jesus
gave on earth. It was the monumental assignment to
make disciples to all nations in the world. With the
task this important. How can that be that most
churches had only gotten this partially right. In
Matthew 28:19-20 ---
Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them
in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the
Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things
whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with
you alway, [even] unto the end of the world. Amen.
Jesus had given us two steps in carrying out this disciples
making command. Step 1. Baptizing them in the name of
the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. This step
is essentially evangelism. Sharing the gospel, hoping
people to accept Christ in baptizing them as new believers.
Most Adventist churches at least tried to do this first steps.
They have supported missionaries, and pastors and even
they go beyond visiting houses and door to door. Most
churches seems to think that evangelism is the great
commission. But thats only half of the sentence, Jesus
goes on to say teaching them to obey all that I have
commanded them. This second steps is education and is
almost completely ignored in our churches.
You might think about the Sabbath school, vacation Bible
school are enough, but wait all these doesn't even come
close to what Jesus Christ has intended. So what does He
intend? What does Jesus Christ intend? Well how much
time did He spent training and educating His disciples. He
taught them for three years. All year long. Pretty much
twenty hours a day. If the best teacher in history needed
that much time to teach His disciples, then how much time
do we need? But we cant possibly spend that much time,
can we? I think we can. But we need parents to intentionally
raise their children. Spend time with them. Read scripture
with them. And pray with them. But what about the time
throughout the rest of the week when kids are in school.
How can we redeem that time?
What if rather than teaching a godless world view
like most public schools. What if there's a schools
that actually helps parents, intentionally helps
parents, what if there is a school that actually
helped disciples their kids. What if teachers could
pray with their students. Model Godly living and
study scriptures with them on the daily basis. 8
hours a day 5 days a week 10 months per year
thats over 1000 hours of God centered education
per year. How could not that be a top priority for
every Christian family. Christian education can help
fill this discipleship gap that we have in our church.
What about being a salt and light in public school. What
about the dangers in living in a Christian bubble? Being salt
and light is a Godly goal. And some students maybe mature
enough to do that in public schools. But even Jesus Christ
did not send His disciples not until He had poured out
thousands of hours into them. And as students evangelize in
public schools you can be sure that the public schools are
evangelizing them as well. Young people are turning away
from god, and they are turning away from Jesus will have
confusion as they enter college but can public schools
equipped them in the attacks of their faith? Heres the
thing, if Christian wants to fulfill the great commission, we
must evangelize and teach our young believers.
Do any less of disobedience to Jesus Christ could be
devastating to the next generation. Our Churches are
excellent in supporting the evangelism program of our
church. But supporting a Christian school that would be
our challenge. The church need to stand side by side to
Christian schools to support them. With that, we are able
to fulfill all of the great commission. It is our greatest
prayer that our churches could help us in our program. We
need you brothers and sisters in this journey to provide
quality Adventist education to our children. NMA cannot
stand alone without your support. So this morning. We
come boldly into your church to knock at your hearts and
to tell you that we need you. We need your prayers. We
need your moral support. We need your financial
support.
Love, the basis of creation and of redemption, is the
basis of true education. Ed. p. 16
Since we love God and our children.. Let us share this
love by sharing our blessings for NMA, by doing such we
give every children of ours an opportunity to learn and
appreciate the beauty of the character of God. Once
again
We would like to tell you We will always keep
knocking at your hearts until Jesus comes. Let us help
build this Senior High School Building for our children and
the children of our children. I know Jesus would be happy
today especially those hearts who were open to help
Gods school. God bless you and more power. Happy
Sabbath.
