The Lithosphere is composed is composed of wide
areas of hard masses of materials called rocks.

ROCKS
Rocks ranged in sizes. Rocks also differ in their
physical properties like color, texture, and hardness.
Rocks found in the ocean floor are denser than those
taken from continents.
CLASSIFICATION OF ROCKS
Geologists classify rocks as igneous, sedimentary,
and metamorphic according to their origin to how
they are formed.

Igneous Rocks
-are considered the primary or parent rocks of
the crust. Igneous rocks have been formed from the
hoy molten material within the earths crust that has
cooled and hardened. The molten material is called
magma and may come out of the earths surface
through volcanic eruptions some common igneous
rocks are also granite , basalt , pumice, and obsidian.
Igneous rocks also called fire rocks because they are
formed at a high temperature. Generally, the texture
IGNEOUS ROCKS
Sedimentary Rocks
-are considered secondary rocks. These are
formed from deposits of materials under water like
sands, pebbles , gravel , and clay. Most sedimentary
rocks are composed and disintegrated rocks. These
fragments of rocks are cemented together and
formed sedimentary rocks. Rocks formed this way are
known as fragment sedimentary. They are classified
according to the size of their fragments . Through the
action of water, wind, chemical changes and other
agents, these sediments are deposited in layers. The
group of rocks is called chemical sedimentary. They
arte group according to their chemical components.
Some example o9f this rocks are sandstone , shale,
conglomerate, limestone ,etc.
