be free and equal at the same time. If people are
equal, then they wont have the freedom to reach their full potential.

If someone is better at something than someone else, and they must be

equal, then that person wont be able to perform as well as they could
because they must be at the same skill level as the other person.
Can we reduce suffering and alleviate
poverty without trying to ensure that
everyone is equal?
Can we reduce suffering and alleviate
poverty without trying to ensure that
everyone is equal?
Yes, because alleviating poverty and reducing suffering is trying to get
people out of a bad state and not trying to make everyone equal at the
same skill level.

Those helping to alleviate poverty and reduce suffering are trying to get
others less fortunate than them to a more stable place financially and
emotionally. This does not mean they are trying to make them equal
however because they are focusing on trying to help the person get out
of a bad place, but not to the exact state/skill level as them.

Different level classes. (AP, Honors, Co-taught) this is voluntarily

because you have to test into different levels and, everyone gets
that same chance to take a higher level class because it depends on
your own work ethic and effort.

Uniforms (School uniforms, work uniform, gym uniform, team uniform)

People voluntarily make themselves equal by wearing uniform
clothing so that you don't pre- judge people by what they have and
wear.
How is helping others different from
trying to eliminate inequality?
How is helping others different from trying
to eliminate inequality?
When you help others, you try to help them get to a better place/ skill
level which can eliminate inequality without meaning to.

If someone gives someone less fortunate clothing/food they are trying

to help them. Their intent is not to make them the same or equal but
healthier or safer.

You are trying to bring them up other than bringing yourself down a
level to be equal.

as equals and give each other the same respect and opportunities.

Try outs for sports- People are put in different teams ( JV, Varsity,
