INTRODUCTION TO SMART SCHOOL

Early in 1996, the Smart School concept has been


discussed and in 1999, this concept successfully
implemented.
Malaysia Smart School is a concept of teaching
learning practices and school management in order
to prepare children for the information Age.
The objective of the implementation of Smart
School concept is to introduce the technology of
education to the students, teachers and society.

COST AND MAINTAINANCE


The goverment need to spend a lot for the facilities such
as ICT labs, new computers, projectors and others.
Upgrade facilities in existing schools.
Build teacher training institutions.
The high cost for the maintenance of the facilities.

TEACHERS AND SCHOOL


Lack of ICT knowledge.
Prefer old way of teaching skills.
Hard to adapt new instructional of the technology.
It will disturb the process of teaching and learning.
Lack of manpower to handle the technical problems.
The school menagement of teaching plan has to rearrange.

STUDENTS
Felt that learning using computer is very time consuming.
Unfamiliar to the new way of learning process using
technology.
Lack of technology facilities at home to practice.
Do not have enough time to study and understand the
lesson as they have different ability to learn.

PARENTS AND SOCIETY


Do not know much and care about Smart School concept
and feel that Smart School are the same with normal
schools.
Have no knowledge about technology to help students in
their studies.
Have negatives thought about technology uses in learning
session and prefer old school techniques of teaching and
learning.

Lack of technology infrastructure in rural area


Limitation of infrastructure such as computer labs lead to
ineffectiveness of technology supported teaching and
learning.
Limited internet connection.
Shortage of computers.
