OUTLINE
RENAL FAILURE
Renal failure (also kidney failure or renal
insufficiency) is a medical condition in which the
kidneys fail to adequately filter waste products
from the blood.
HEMODIALYSIS
Hemodialysis (also
haemodialysis) is a method
that is used to achieve the
extracorporeal removal of
waste products such as
creatinine and urea and free
water from the blood when
the kidneys are in a state of
renal failure.
Hemodialysis is one of three
renal replacement therapies
(the other two being renal
transplant and peritoneal
dialysis).
EFFECTIVE DIET FOR
HEMODIALYSIS CLIENT
Reduce your intake of fluids
Renal failure makes the body retain water and
can not dispose of excess fluid. Therefore,
patients on hemodialysis is recommended to
reduce the intake of fluids.
Reduce levels of potassium

Potassium affects the intensity of the heartbeat.

Foods that contain potassium and should be
avoided include apricots, avocados, yogurt,
cantaloupe, and sugar beets.
EFFECTIVE DIET FOR

In kidney failure, phosphate accumulate in the
blood. As a result, will draw calcium phosphate
