Woodstock: the People and

the Purpose

By: Steven Righter

Purpose
The original purpose of Woodstock was to raise enough
money to build a recording studio. This purpose was
not met, as the three day music festival ended up with
significant financial losses.
Woodstock was a contrast to the violent
protests and bombings of anti-war groups, like
the SDS and Weathermen
Many people reported that their only purpose
in attending was simply to listen to the music.

love & rock n roll were very prominent.
