Project Charter
1. Project Overview:
Project name: Performance of 8bit multipliers using mGDI technique
Project Charter author: Shashank S Meti & Bharath C N
Creation Date: 11/2/2017
Project requester: Dept. of ECE, RVCE
Project Charter status: Approved
Date of project approval: 17/2/2017
Proposed project starts date: 21/2/2017
Proposed project end date: 31/5/2017
2. Project Description :
The multiplier design using mGDI technique includes the following
activities
i.Design of AND gate using mGDI
ii.Design of Half adder using mGDI
iii. Design of Full adder using mGDI
iv. Design of Array, Vedic and Wallace tree multipliers using mGDI
technique
v. Performance comparison in terms of Area, Delay and power wrt
CMOS technique
Tools used: MS office, MS power point,
Cadence virtuoso

Project purpose: To build an efficient multiplier which can

further help in building an energy efficient ALU

Project Goals and Outcomes:

Performance Analysis of the designed multiplier to decide
upon the best multiplier to be used in ALU
Project scope Format
1. Project purpose Statement:(Synopsis 2 nd para)

2.Background: (synopsis 1st para)

Objectives:
Design and optimization of various multipliers like Array Multiplier,
Wallace-Tree Multiplier and Vedic Multiplier using GDI logic.

Design and optimization of above multipliers using m-GDI logic.

Performance analysis of the above designed multipliers on the basis of

Delay, Power and Number of Transistors.
Key stakeholders:
Guide, We, Department, Cadence tool vendor

Organization Requirements:
i. Working and successful project
ii. Project Report
iii. To publish a paper on our work.
WBS OF OUR PROJECT:
GANTT CHART:
Project Risk:
Risk: It is an uncertain event or condition, if it that occurs, has a positive or
negative effect on project scope, cost, schedule and quality

Risk identification:
1. High Risk
i. Lab availability
ii. Project final acceptance
iii. Exact analysis and performance comparison
iv. Vulnerability and variations in the high designs
2. Medium risk
i. Usage of 180nm technology rather than 45nm
ii. Paper presented acceptance

3. Low risk
i. Software licence
ii. Login credentials
iii. Holidays and exams
Project Cost Management: Cost of the resources needed to
complete project activity by considering stakeholder requirements.

Total cost of our project is time spent and monetary cost.

The average time that we have spent is 1hr per day.
Monetary cost :
i. Cost of software is around 30L/yr this results in 342
rupees per hr. We have used this software for 65 hrs
so 65*342=22230.
ii. Printing cost (37*2 + 50*10)=574.
iii. Total cost= 22,804
