IT Infrastructure Designing & Its Implementation

Acknowledgement
Apart from the efforts of me, the success of any project depends largely on
the encouragement and guidelines of many others.

I take this opportunity to express my gratitude to Mr. Mangesh Joshi sir

Proprietor of MLC Infotech who have been instrumental in the successful
completion of this project.

I would like to show my greatest appreciation to Prof Dr. Gaikwad sir. I cant
say thank you enough for his tremendous support and help. I feel motivated
and encouraged every time I attend his meeting. Without his
encouragement and guidance this project would not have materialized.

The guidance and support received from all the members who contributed
and who are contributing to this project, was vital for the success of the
project. I am grateful for their constant support and help.

IT Infrastructure Designing & Its Implementation

Synopsis
This project is based on network Desigining & Its Implementation, which
focuses towards Designing & Implementation of data communication
and computer networking for the client MSEDCL, through MLC Infotech.

The Project began with, the discussion & meetings with customer
following with area survey & considering the technical & operation
feasibility

On the basis of survey reports & feasibility study the Networking

technology to be implemented along with network design was decided.

The intermediate part of this project began where I had a major role to
play by implementing the Network Technology & Design.

The Primary Focus of This Project

Designing of Physical Network

Designing of Logical Network
Networking Technology Selection
Implementation of Network

IT Infrastructure Designing & Its Implementation

Introduction
This project is divided into 2 major sections.

IT Network Design
IT Network Implementation

Them project is executed by using below PM strategy:

Network Infrastructure Planning P
Network infrastructure (sub part of IT Infrastructure) refers to the R
hardware and software resources that enable network connectivity & E
communication, operations and management of an enterprise network.
P
Two Important Terminologies in Network
Infrastructure (Active & Passive Network A
Infrastructure) R
E
Active Network Infrastructure
It defines the logical connectivity and communication
between networked &
hosts, by making use of various networking services,
standards, networking
models as well as the active part of the network uses various P
protocols for the
connectivity and data transfer purpose. L
A
Components /Entities of Active Network Infrastructure
Network Operating Systems : Server 2003, Server 2008, UNIX, N
LINUX, etc.
Networking Services : DHCP, DNS, WINS, IIS, etc.
Network Devices : Switch, Routers, etc.
Networking Protocols : TCP/IP, OSPF, FTP, etc.

IT Infrastructure Designing & Its Implementation

Network Infrastructure Planning P
Passive Network Infrastructure
R
Plays a vital role in physical (hardware) connection of network hosts, E
networking devices. The passive networking components acts as the P
conduit for transferring data, as well as it also includes the
supporting network hardware such as network racks, structured A
cabling and so on. R
Components / Entities of Passive Network E
Infrastructure
Point of distributions : Network racks, server cabinets
Conduit : UTP, STP, OFC Cables
&
Patch panels : CAT -5e, 6, 6A, LIU
Patch Cords : A patch between patch panel and
network device
P
L
Organization & IT Infrastructure
Today most of the conventional commerce activities are getting
A
phased out. N
e- Commerce is taking their place, because of which each and
every organization from small scale to large scale has to
concentrate on its organizations Network Infrastructure (IT
Infrastructure) to cater the business needs.

Each component has its key role in the operation & functioning of a network.
P
Hence while designing the network its very important to consider the below L
factors:
A
Location of the components
Compatibility with other components in network N
Maintenance / Service cycle
Technology of the components
Flexibility of the components

CCTV Planning P
IP Based CCTV R
IP based CCTV surveillance systems can deliver significant advantages over
traditional analogue systems such as better remote access, greater integration E
with other systems, improved image quality as well as scalability.

Operate & Optimize O
P
E
In the first phase 42 users started using this network & server setup. All the users R
got IP address from the DHCP server. User getting IP address in the range of
192.168.2.xx A
Users were also able to connect successfully to Wi-Fi. Mobile, Tablets, laptops T
connected successfully to the Wi-Fi network.
File server was easily accessible to the users.
E
2 CCTV installations were not able to deliver the images as per the client
requirement, so a resurvey will be required & on the basis of it mounting will be &
changed.

R
Potential Drawback A
LAN points at user desk doesnt have redundant connection. So if the cable from T
switch end to I/O gest cut, there will be network outage. E
WAPs does not have redundant cable, so if the connectivity cable fails or breaks
then there will be Wi-Fi outage.
Redundant File server & Redundant DHCP servers are not available, hence in case &
of server hardware failure there will be down time.
File Server & DHCP Server roles are installed on the same server, hence if the
server fails both services will be affected. O
P
Measures to avoid the drawback
These drawbacks are because of the budget of the project & client requirement.
T
We have provided a report to client about eliminating such flaws, but the I
measures to be implemented will require high costing so these measures may be M
implemented in future.

Conclusion

At the end of this industrial training I understood many practical & real
world things in the field of networking. It was like a on job training for me.
The tasks which were given to me I was aware of them theoretically, but
during this project I got a practical exposure in implementing & designing
the network.

I learned all the things from the initialization of the project till its successful
completion.

As a MBA (IT) student I learned the real world business operations including
the technical aspects of my specialization domain, i.e IT. The things I
learned here will be very beneficial to me in my career.
