The short story that I learnt is Fairs Fair by

Narinder Dhami . This story is about 3 friends
Sam, Raj and Lee. They helped each other to
earn some money so that Lee can go to the
fair together with Sam and Raj.

The lesson that I have learnt from the short story
is honesty is the best policy. This proverb means
we need to be honest in what ever we do. This
can be seen in some incidents in the short story.

PARAGRAPH 2

First of all, when Lee admitted and took

responsibility towards the little girls ball. This is
shown in the story when the children walks Mrs
Greens dog. The little dog bit the little girls ball
at the park. Next, Mrs Green paid Lee a pound
for walking her dog. However, after receiving the
money from Mrs Green, Lee gave the money to
the little girl to buy a new ball.

As we can clearly see now, Lee was being

honest to admit that the dog bit the girls
ball. He was also responsible to pay for the
new ball.

Moreover, Lee was honest to return the things

that does not belong to him. This is shown in the
story when Raj, Sam and Lee found a purse on
the floor. They returned it back to the owner. It
happen when a lady was carrying a heavy
shopping bag. They saw something fell out of it.

It was the ladys purse that fell down. The
children found a lot of money in it. After some
discussion, they decided to returned it to the
lady. As a reward, the lady gave Lee five pounds.
They were very excited and happy as they can
use the money to go to the fair. As we can
clearly see, we need to be honest in life. We
should never take things that is not ours.

PARAGRAPH 5 (Conclusion)

In conclusion, the lesson that I have learnt

from the short story is honesty is the best policy.
I my opinion I will try to practise this as much as I
can.
