(Maman):It was true. When she was at home with me, Maman used to spend
her time following me with her eyes, not saying a thing. For the first few days at
the home she cried a lot. But that was because she wasn't used to it.Thats
partly why I didn't go there much this past year. And also because it took up
my SundayPg.5
HOW CAN MEANINGFUL RELATIONSHIPS
BENEFIT A PERSON IN LIFE?
Many studies have shown that people who have gratifying relationships with
family, friends, are happier, have fewer health problems, and live longer.
Another line of research proposes that caring behaviors sets off the release of
stress-reducing hormones.
One study, which examined data from more than 309,000 people, found that
lack of strong relationships increased the risk of premature death from all
causes by 50% an effect on death risk approximately comparable to
smoking up to 15 cigarettes a day, and greater than obesity and physical
inactivity.
How relationships can affect your health
When couples are in a constant state of conflict, it is detrimental to their health
and wellbeing. Their blood pressure rises, and they suffer emotionally. That
affects your body. There is also a link between physical and mental health and
sexuality. As your physical and mental health deteriorates, so does your
sexual health.
What do you think about Mersault's reaction to when Marie told him she wanted to
get married?
What can you say about Mersaults relationship with his mother?
