Separation of

Hydrogen- Carbon
Dioxide
Selectively Surface Flow
Membrane
The particle after the fermentation is the
hydrogen and carbon dioxide.
The hydrogen particles are mixed with the
carbon dioxide as the gas particle. Thus gas
separation needed to get the high yield
and purity of the hydrogen to be sold.
GasGas Separation
The one selective surface membrane used in the plant
is call PRISM hydrogen membrane which is develop by
the Airproduct.
Advantages (Airproduct, 1996):
- Low energy use.
- Can be use to carry out separation continuously.
- Mild process condition.
- Easy scale up.
- No additives uses.
- Potentiality to blend with other separation technology.

the adsoption-surface diffusion desorption
mechanism (Rao and Sircar, 1993).
The gas mixture will be separated as it passed
through the bore side of the membrane at a super
ambient pressure level (PH) while keeping the
permeate side at a near ambient pressure level
(PL).
Certain part of the feed gas mixture are selectively
adsorbed on the pore walls of the carbon

Baghouse
Is an air pollution control device that removes
particulates out of air or gas released from commercial
processes or combustion for electricity generation.
In Superpro software, baghouse is used instead of
separator, because it is simply functioning baghouses
typically have a particulate collection efficiency of 99%
or better, even when particle size is very small
(Courtenay, 2012).
In this case, baghouse is intentionally used not to emit
away the CO2 and H2 particle, but to separate them for
collection in further process.
