Different music comes from different places, and some components

of one type of music can have connections drawn from another type

of music.

Some of these connections are commonly argued about or have not

been discovered yet.

Research Question

Where did current rock and alternative music derive from?

Hypothesis

Current rock and alternative music has derived from music from the

Vietnam War, Jazz and Rhythm and blues (R&B).

Rationale

Music has influence. Maybe the creative process has a stronger

connection to influence than we know. Id like to explore the concepts

of seemingly unusual connections being drawn in musical theory.

 Basis of Hypothesis

I originally focused my hypothesis directly on jazzs relation to current

rock, but I decided to expand it due to other origins being found in such

as african tribal drumming, R&B, and the Vietnam War.

 Project/ Product Ideas

I plan to find evidence in the form of books, online databases, and

personal analyzations of albums/other entertainment sources to find

connections.

I will listen to music from the different periods of time to see if I can

put the connections into context.
