21st Century Teaching & Learning

Introduction
We are in a new century of adult learners, and the goal of
educators and trainers is to be better prepared in
knowing how to work with the diverse community of
learners. A question we ask is how do educators know
what we are teaching is meaningful and impactful on these
learners knowing about global diversity?

A new outlook on effective practices and transition in

working with a demographically diverse population will be
the focus for businesses, industries and government
entities.

What is Demography?
Generational characteristics can best be defined
by what influenced each generation during their
developmental years. Historical events, cultural
norms, and political environment all shape each
generations common values, beliefs, and
characteristics

Also, the size and composition of populations

according to diverse criteria (age, sex, marital
status, educational attainment, spatial distribution,
etc.)
Importance in Demographics
Politics: Candidates use demographics to be
able to campaign in their favor (i.e., age, sex,
race, education have effects on political
preference and voting).

Globalization: If we know the population

trends around the
world, marketing companies may take
advantage: place factories
where there are younger people who can
work.
