Physical Smart Card

The tuner receives multiple digital broadcast channels from the network &
tunes to a specified channel
The demod demodulates the single channel into a single multi-program
transport stream
The demux demultiplexes the transport stream into its single encrypted
packetized elementary streams
The demux forwards the audio and video elementary streams to the
decryption engine & the encryption key to the secure microprocessor
The smart card uses its private key to decrypt the encryption key and
forwards the unencrypted key to the decryption engine
The decryption engine uses the unencrypted key to decrypt the encrypted
packetized elementary audio/video streams
The decryption engine forwards clear MPEG-2 Video, Audio on to the
- MPEG Video NTSC/PAL modulator
- MPEG Audio
The decryption engine forwards clear private data to the appropriate source
