Problem Statement
It is interesting how the satellite in
space able to orbit around the earth
Therefore we want to know does the
centripetal force affect the velocity of
the satellite and understand the
period of the circular motion.
Objective
Objectives

To investigate the relationship

To investigate the effect of the
between centripetal force, mass
tension, the radius of the circular
of the weight and velocity in a
motion and mass of the stopper
whirling object
Literature Review
Centripetal force a force that makes a body follows a
curved path.
Its direction is always orthogonal to the motion of the
body and towards the fixed point of the instantaneous
centre of curvature of the path
The centripetal force is directed at right angles to the
motion and also along the radius towards the centre of
the circular path by the Dutch physicist Christiaan Huygens
(1659)
The centripetal force can also be supplied as a 'push'
force, such as in the case where the normal reaction of a
wall supplies the centripetal force for a wall of death rider
THEORY
An object moving with a changing speed in the same
direction is undergoing acceleration.
If an object moves with a constant speed but is
changing direction, it is also undergoing acceleration
A change in direction is called centripetal
acceleration, and the force producing it is called
centripetal force

The distance (circumference) around a circle is 2r
where 2r is the distance around one complete circle
and T is the period (time) required to make one
revolution

Methodology
APPARATUS AND MATERIALS
The apparatus prepared in this experiment are PVC
pipe, meter ruler, cuter, 10-30 g weights, stopwatch,
paper clip, electronic balance, string, paper tape and
rubber stoppers.
PROCEDURE
The end of the string was tied securely to the rubber
stopper
The string was pass through the PVS pipe and tied
with 10g of weight on the other end of the string
The weight was adjust to 0.75m between the top of
the tube and the stopper.
A paper clip was attached to the string just below the
PVC pipe
The stopper was whirl slowly in circular motion by
moving the PVC pipe.
The weight of 10g was slowly release and the speed
of the stopper was adjust to maintain the paper clip
just below the bottom of the tube.
Part 1
Used the radius of 35 cm and mass of the stopper is 7g
Changed the mass of the weight by 10g, 15g, 20g, 25g and
30g.
Time taken was taken for 20 revolutions to spin.
Part 2
The same mass rubber stopper and use a mass of 10 g for
each trial
Changed the length of the radius by 10cm, 15cm, 20cm, 25cm
and 30cm.
Time taken was taken for 20 revolutions to spin.
Part 3
Kept the radius constant at about 30 cm and keep 50g of mass
of the weight
Changed the mass of the stopper for 5 trials
Time taken was taken for 20 revolutions to spin
