PRELIMINARY REPORT
The preliminary report has for its purpose
the collection of information to determine the
advisability of the proposed work, the probable
cost, the best design and other pertinent facts.
It looks forward to a more detailed
examination report.
It scopes is limited and it collects only the
most important information, gives rough
estimates, and submits preliminary report.
DISTINCT ELEMENTS OF PRELINARY
REPORT

comparison.
3. Exposition of plan favored by the report
writer and arguments or reasons pointing out
its advantages.

PROGRESS REPORT
A progress report gives a history of an
undertaking over a limited period, or from the
date of beginning until the date of writing. It is
a narrative in style and usually follows the
chronological order. The narrative will be taken
from beginning to end in each of several
sections of the report dealing with logical
subdivisions of the main topic. Each section
may miniature report in itself with a brief
introduction, and general introduction to the
report as a whole.

FINAL REPORT
A final report is submitted after an

out. It is detailed and contained

EXAMINATION REPORT
Examination report is one of the common
types of report. It presents information for the
definite purpose of furnishing a basis for
action. It gives an analysis of conditions. It
collects facts and from these facts it draws
conclusion based upon expert knowledge. It is
usually an outside report, done by an experts
or a large group working under supervision.
Hundreds of men are sometimes engaged at
one time in various phases of report.
Examination report is classified into:
According to content, they may be divided
into groups dealing with materials,
processes, structures, or person.
According to reader and purpose, they may
be classified as financial, organization,
marketing, or engineering reports.

work specifically includes consulting books on the

manuals and abstract, the indexes of scientific
literature and others.

gathered.

2 TYPES OF RECOMMENDATION REPORT
1. Operation report- deals with location,
equipment, efficiency and personnel of the
plant. It deals with facts and figures.
2. Construction report- deals with system,
structures, mechanisms, and apparatus. It
proposes a design which appears suitable to the
writers investigation.
* In a recommendation report there is a need for
careful analysis.
FEASIBILITY REPORT
A feasibility report documents the results
of a feasibility study. It defines the study in
terms of its objectives and the factors that
determine whether something is feasible or
not. The feasibility report presents,
interprets, and summarizes the data
relevant to feasibility. A feasibility study
always involves a choice among options.
The options may involve doing something
or not doing it.
