ELA
In ELA we just wrapped up our beginning of the year
assessments. We started working in centers this week with
a focus on independent/buddy reading, writing good
sentences, vocabulary, and technology practice on Front
Row. Next week, I will be handing out the Raz Kids Plus
log in for each student which they can access at home. We
will be starting a review of different parts of speech and will
begin learning about different types of Folktales in the next
few weeks, such as fables, tall tales, legends, and
fairytales.
MMath
In math we are working on place value and
rounding. We will have a test on Tuesday,
September 12, over the concepts. Each
child took home a packet to study from. It
shows questions and answers very similar to
those that are on the test ( ie. In a number
like 1,234 the place of the number 3 is the
tens place. The value of the number is 30).
This week we took our MAPS tests as well
for math.
Reminders
Please remember to send your child
with a light sweatshirt or jacket that
he/she can wear at school. It can get
very chilly in the classrooms. Also please
send a water bottle.
Upcoming
Tuesday September 12: WATCH
D.O.G.S. Pizza Night Kick-off Event @HS for
all elementary schools. Pizza Night starts at
6:00.
