Basic Configuration

Ringer Unit :-

IC LS1240. Signal from exchange (75V AC 25

Hz) is filtered and then fed to piezo buzzer to
activate ringtone.

Transmission Unit :-
It’s also known as speech unit. Diode Bridge is
used as a polarity guard. U-3 which is a TEA
PBL 3726/18 is used which is known as speech
IC. Main task of this IC is to fed the o/p of
received amplifier to the receiver.
Dialer Unit :-

The dialer IC is CMOS IC

UM91214A(U2).The IC is driven by supply
voltage b/w 2.5-4.5 V , fixed by a zener
diode. There is a DTMF & mute circuit also.
The telephone goes to TPS mode when pin is
connected to VDD by a two position slide
switch.
4. Transducer :-

- This transducer is used as transmission

capsule & receiving capsule.
- Transducer is built for a 20 year life and
weighted about 14 gm.
- Sensitivity of capsule relative to 1Par/V or
100mV of 1 KHz :
Mean = 23+/-0.5dB
Min/max = 23+/-1.5dB
- Impedance = at the 1KHz are 600 +/- 10%
- Distortion = 300Hz to 3.4KHz is don’t exceed
2%.
Technical specification

-transducer either type T-B0i or MCR-89 .

-24hr. redial memory of last dialed no. up to 32
digits.
-Flash button to provide 300+30ms break on the
line.
-Permanent dial tone multi-frequency
signaling(DTMF).
- Harmonic Distortion :

Receiver side : < 5%
-Last number redial capacity : 32 digits.
Types of tones
The various tones used in auto exchange
are as following :-
1.Dialer Tone :-Returned to the calling subscriber
from the first group selector and indicates that
exchange is ready to accept dialing. The dial tone
stops as soon as the first digit is dialed. It is a
continuous tone of 33 cycle/sec.
2. Ringtone :-

Returned to the calling subscriber from the final

selector, when the bell of the calling party is
ringing. It stops as soon as the handset is lifted. It
is an interrupted tone of 133cycle/sec. with
interruption as following: 0.4s ON, 0.2s OFF
………..
3. Busy Tone :-

Returned to the subscriber from final selector, when

the call party is engaged. This stops only when
handset is replaced. It is an interrupted tone of 400
cycle/sec with interruption as follows: 0.75s ON,
0.75s OFF.
4. Number Unobtainable Tone :-

This tone is referred from the final selector when

type calling party’s line is out of order or
disconnected or not available due to other reason.
It is a continuous tone of 400 cycle/sec.
Working description
1. Ringer Section :-

- Ringer signal (75V AC,25Hz) is fed to the

ringer IC.DC voltage is developed and tone
signal is fed to the piezo ceramic buzzer.
 - Ringer volume is controlled by a three
position slide switch.
 - At the beginning of the telephone circuit a
polarity guard bridge is provide to immune
the tip and ring connected from any
specified polarity.
2 .Speech Section :-

Following tasks are performed under this

section :-

-Fixing the maximum current drawn by the speech

circuit.
-Bypassing AC voice signal.

- Determination of AC impedance of the circuit

selected values of the component provided good
balance return loss characteristics of telephone.
-Constitution of the receive gain.
- Constitution of the send gain.
- The speech circuit remains completely muted during
dialing making the dial clicks low at the receiver.
3. Dialing Section :-

-Whenever the handset is lifted up ,speech IC

becomes low indicating that telephone is now
on the speech mode.
- Whenever HKS pin is low pulse out pin
becomes high making both transistor ON.
Current starts flowing through telephone.
- Zener clamps the required voltage. The
capacitor is constantly charged ON-HOOK
condition.
- Whenever a button is pressed DTMF pin , it
gives out a composite tone signal consisting of
the two frequencies predetermined by the
column of the depressed button. In

Wave soldering
It is a production method for mask soldering of
inter-connection. It is performed through these
components as following :
Flux : It is of two type :
- Mount corrosive region base mildly activated
liquid flux type ram.
- Flux region basic activated (R.A.).
Solder Metal :-
Solder is a metallic alloy containing tin and
lead. The ratio of tin and lead is approx. 60/40
with a variation of 5%. It has a melting point
below 427 deg C.
Preheater :-

There are different types of preheater that is

hot plates, forced hot air, radiant heaters. The
functions are following :-
- To drive the violate solvent in the flux.
- To achieve the optimum activity level of flux.
- To reduce the terminal shock to the PAWs and
component on entering the solder wave.
- To reduce amount of heat required from
soldering wave to rage the join to soldering
lamp.
- To permit higher soldering speed and reduced
exposure to wave.
Precautions during wave soldering :-

- PCBs and component must be cleaned by

approved cleaning agent.
- Solder mask shall not extend to edge of PCBs.
- The temperature of preheater should be accurate
with the variation.
- Flux density should be within the range.
