INTRODUCTION
TO BRAKING
SYSTEM
BRAKE A brake is a device which
in hibits motion

1 MOUNTING BRACKET are used to

hold the caliper in place.
2 ROTORS are metal disc supported
by the suspension .
3 CALIPERS are the housing that
contain the piston and brake pads

CONCLUSION
An axissymmetric analysis of disc brakes has been carried out using element plane 55 and plane 44 through
ANSYS 12.0(F.E.A) software
A transient thermal analysis is carried out using the direct time integration technique for the application of
braking force due to friction for time duration of 4sec,5sec, and 6sec.
The maximum temperature obtained in S2 GLASS brakes disc at the contact surface is observed to be
125.3C.
Static structural analysis is carried out by coupling the thermal solution to the structural analysis and
maximum vonmises stress in S-2 GLASSS brake disc in observed to be 60.3MPa.
The brake disc design is safe based on the strength and rigidity criteria.
To arrived at a best combination of parameter s of the disc brakes likes FLAGE WIDTH, WALL THICKNESS, and
material transient thermal and structural analysis for three different material were carried out separately
and the result were compared.
Comparing the different result obtainted from the analysis, its concluded that disc brake with 12mm
FLANGE WIDTH,6.5mmWALL THICKNESS and of material high strength S2-GLASS is the best possible
combination for the present application.
