Paragraph
Paragraph is a series of sentences all relating to
the same topic or a central idea. The
paragraph should contain only one idea.
Parts of paragraph
There are 3 parts of paragraph:
1. Introductory sentence/topic sentence
2. Supporting sentences (facts, opinion,
statistics, information, or examples related to
the topic.
3. Concluding sentence

What is the difference between the title and the
topic of the paragraph?

Title Topic sentence
It is above the paragraph It is the first sentence of the
paragraph
It expands the topic It focuses the topic
It is usually not a complete It should be a complete

Most words are capitalized Only the first word and proper
nouns are capitalized
Topic sentence
Good topic sentence contains:
1. a subject of something being written; the topic
should not be too general or too specific.
2. Controlling idea(s)
3. Point of view
Examples:
The television is a major source of home entertainment.
Digital cameras make photography easy and fun.
