INTRODUCTION
Today cylindrical panel plays an important role in many engineering application. Some
of them are listed below:
The cylindrical panels are used in many engineering structures, industries, naval and
space projects.
Many of structural component of space project like rocket, launch vehicles, etc. are
made up of cylindrical shell panel.
Cylindrical panel are also used in Pressure vessels, nuclear reactors and boilers.

APPLICATION OF CYLINDRICAL PANEL
5
THERMAL STRESSES
Thermal load becomes predominant when shell structure is subjected to high temperature
as it induces thermal stress in the shell panel.
Thermal expansion is the change in size or volume of a given mass with changing
temperature.
6
INFLUENCE OF THERMAL STRESSES
It can have significant effect on a structures strength and stability, potentially causing
cracks or breaks within certain components.
It also affects the dynamic behavior since it influences the stiffness of structure.

CONCLUSIONS
As the aspect ratio, curvature ratio and thickness ratio increases the critical buckling
temperature decreases.
Boundary conditions has noticeable effect on the critical buckling temperature.
The free vibration of cylindrical panel decreases as the aspect ratio, curvature ratio and
thickness ratio increases.
Free vibration and its corresponding mode shape is highly influenced by boundary
conditions
Fall in natural frequency is very drastic for the mode corresponding to the lowest
buckling temperature mode.
