communication skills. They must be able to communicate

Dexterity. Dentists must be good at working with their

hands. They work with tools in a limited area.
Leadership skills. Most dentists work in their own
practice. This requires them to manage and lead a staff.
Patience. Dentists may work for long periods of time with
patients who need special attention. Children and patients
with a fear of dental work may require a lot of patience.
Physical stamina. Dentists should be comfortable
performing physical tasks, such as bending over patients
for long periods.
Problem-solving skills. Dentists need strong problem-
solving skills. They must evaluate patients symptoms and

Biology from CCBC, I intend to transfer to
(UMD) University of Maryland, College Park.

This university is very selective and is ranked top
61 in national universities. Not only it is one of
the best university in nation, but also UMD has
school of dentistry after the bachelor degree.
Getting in the UMD, School of Dentistry for a
DDS degree will be more convenient after getting
a bachelor degree from the same university. Plus,
UMD, School of Dentistry is the first university
to offer a dentistry course in the world, this 10
attracts me. (US news, 2017)
INFLUENCES.

I cannot recall any particular person that influenced my
career interest. However, there are a couple of events that
pushed me. Working on a medical field had been a dream

inscribed on my brain when I was very young. But a few
events made it specific to dentistry. When I was 14, my
wisdom tooth started to erupt. It hurt and I had to visit
dentist quite frequently. Then, in 15 years of age I got
cavities for which I had to get 6 composite fillings in my
teeth. Then on my 16th birthday I got myself braces as a
birthday present. For, 3 more years I had to visit the
dentist at least once a month. In those years of meeting
dentist frequently and getting a pain in my teeth, I
subconsciously got a liking on this occupation. Hence, these
few events in my life influenced my career interest.

BACK UP PLAN I realized that I have no other
back up plan or options other than dentistry. I have
always been so determined to become a dentist that

I never ever spent a jiffy thinking about what I
would do if something were to stop me from
becoming a dentist. I learned that I really need to
give this some though.
Other Field in Dentistry- I never had a slightest clue
about all the other field and specialties in dentistry.
I had encountered only a few, but now I found out
many other specialties in the field of dentistry.
