ground.
 TRANSFORMER

A transformer is an electrical device

or static device that transfers
electrical energy from one circuit to
another circuit through medium of
magnetic field and without change
in frequency.
 CURRENT TRANSFORMER

A current transformer
is used to measurement
of high current.

A C.T used to step up

voltage for
measurement ,control
and protection.
 POTENTIAL TRANSFORMER

A potential transformer
is a step down
transformer used along
with a low range
voltmeter for measuring
a high voltage.
 CAPACITOR VOLTAGE TRANSFORMER

A capacitor voltage
transformer (CVT) is a
transformer used in power
systems to step-down extra
high voltage signals and
provide low voltage signals
either for measurement or to
operate a protective relay.
 ISOLATORS

Isolator is used to make sure that

an electrical circuit can be
completely de-energized for
service or maintenance.

It operates on no load and on load

conditions.
 INSULATORS
The insulator serves two purposes
they support the conductors and
confine the current to the
conductors.
There are mainly four types of
insulator used as overhead
insulator like as :-

1. Pin Insulator
2. Suspension Insulator
3. Strain Insulator
4.Shackle insulator
 CIRCUIT BREAKERS
As the name indicate
circuit breaker use to
break the circuit for
automatic switching
during abnormal
condition and when the
fault occur.

 RELAY

A relay is
automatic device
which senses an
abnormal
condition of
electrical circuit
and closed its
contacts
 BUS BAR

Bus-bars are copper or

aluminum bars and operate at
constant voltage.
The incoming and outgoing
lines in a sub-station are
connected to the bus-bars.
the most commonly used
bus-bars arrangement in sub-
station are :-
1. Single bus bar
arrangement
2. Double bus-bar
arrangement
