POVERTY
Poverty has always remained a
critical social problem that calls to be
addressed. Philippines the poverty line
for 2014 marked a per capita income of
100,534 pesos a year. According to the
data from the National Statistical
Coordination Board, more than one-
quarter of the population fell below the
poverty line the first semester of 2014, an
approximate 78 per cent increase since
2013.
CORRUPTION
According to the
2016 results of
Corruption Perception
Index of Transparency
International, Philippines
ranks 101th place out of
176 countries.
UNEMPLOYMENT
According to the National
Economic and Development
Authority, based on the
January 2017 Labor Force
Survey, the unemployment rate
in the country increased to 6.6
percent in January 2017. This is
higher than the 5.7 percent
recorded in January 2016.
EDUCATION SYSTEM
According to the human capital
theory, the economic
development of a nation is a
function of the quality of its
education. In other words: the
more and better educated a
people, the greater the chances
of economic development.

OVER POPULATION
The current population of
the Philippines is 103,903,047 as of
Saturday, July 29, 2017, based on the
latest United Nations estimates.
the Philippines population is
equivalent to 1.38% of the total
world population.
HUMAN RIGHTS ABUSES
The forces are known to be
responsible for disappearances,
torture, unlawful detentions and
killings. Prison conditions are poor,
and the corrupt judicial system makes
the legal process inefficient.
LACK OF CULTURAL
IDENTITY AND
NATIONALISM
Filipinos might say that they are
proud of being "pinoy", yet we want to
look white. The Philippines wants to
copy other countries instead of
differentiating itself from the rest.

WATER POLLUTION
Only one third of Philippine river
systems are considered suitable for
public water supply.
DEFORESTATION
Deforestation, clearance or
clearing is the removal of a forest or
stand of trees where the land is
thereafter converted to a non-forest
use.
AIR POLLUTION
Air pollution is a mixture of
solid particles and gases in the air. Car
emissions, chemicals from factories,
dust, pollen and mold spores may be
suspended as particles.
