STATCOM
It is a power electronic device forced
commutated devices like IGBT, GTO etc. to
control the reactive power flow through a power
network.

Fuzzy control
a mathematical system that analyzes analog input
values in terms of logical variables that take on
continuous values between 0 and 1.

FUZZIFICATION AND DEFUZZIFICATION
FUZZIFICATION
The process of and transforming input values crisp input
values into linguistic values is called Fuzzification.
De- Fuzzification
Process of converting fuzzy values into crisp values
1. Max membership methods
2. Centroid method
3. Weighted average method

Fuzzy logic inputs
Linguistic variable
A variable whose values are words or sentences in
natural languages .
Where in this project Linguistic variables are error
and change in error.
Linguistic values are NL,NM,NS,EZ,PL,PM,PS.
fuzzy maps the variables to the equivalent crisp value.

Fuzzy logic rules
A fuzzy rule can be defined as a conditional
statement in the form:
IF x is A THEN y is B
Where x and y are linguistic variables; and
A and B are linguistic values.
Ex:
1. If (error is NL) and (change in error is NL) then
(output signal is NL)
2. If (error is NM) and (change in error is NL) then
(output signal is NL)

Conclusion
The power factor correction process is achieved
without employing any complicated control logic.
It Presents an fuzzy control of a VSC used as a
STATCOM for power factor compensation.
The performance of the fuzzy control is compared
with a adaptive PI control in simulation, it is
nearly 0.786 and while using, fuzzy controller
acquiring 0.999 PF that is nearly unity power
factor.
