Our Cycle System

We play, teach and observe your child.

We evaluate what your child knows.
We identify what he/she is ready to learn next.

At the start of each cycle Next Steps are chosen.

At the end of the cycle we evaluate your childs learning
& development, write a Review of Progress for you, and
choose new Next Steps.

A tick system is used:

P= emerging
PP= meeting
PPP= exceeding
Our partnership

We are a team, working towards

your child having the best learning
journey possible.

Your child is unique.

We recognise this in our individual planning & interaction

with your child throughout their time in Foundation.

The more details you share with us about your child, the
better we know how he/she is learning & developing at
home and in school.
Sharing learning with you

ILD (Interactive learning Diary)

Evidence of your childs development is
shared through observations and
photos.

Live for notified periods for you to look

at & save what we have posted.

Portfolio

commemorations of special events.
Language for communication

In school we focus on English.

Playing, reading stories, watching TV and talking about

whatever you can in your home language(s) will
develop a strong mother-tongue and aid all future
language learning.

Please encourage and support

your child but please dont
push!
Your child needs time - time to
learn and also time to switch off.
Reading Scheme

A childs level is assessed by the teacher.

Please look at the book for about 10 minutes

each day with your child.
First books have no or few words.
Please encourage your child to use the
pictures telling a story, in your home
language, is an important early reading skill.

The Reading Diary is for you to complete with the

dates you share the book and the title. We also invite
you to comment upon your child and his/her reading.
Communication is the key

Our main method for mutual sharing of

information is via the Home-link Diary. Please
remember to check it daily.
