Working of disc
brakes:
When the brakes are
applied due to the
pressure the oil inside the
brake wire flows towards
the piston
As the surface area is very
large in piston when
compared to the wire the
force applied on the brake
pads increases immensely.
The break pad pushes the
rotor disc which is
connected to the hub.
Thus the kinetic energy is
converted into heat
energy.
Aim of our project:

The heat energy dissipated in the


above process is studies.
A model of disc brakes will be
prepared in Solid works .
The model is then used for heat
analysis in Ansys
