BASIC PRINCIPLE

Vapour absorption refrigeration system

Ammonia as refrigerant and water as absorbent
COMPONENTS USED :
100cc Hero Honda engine

Vapour absorption refrigeration unit

Stainless steel pipes

Frame made up of mild steel

Cabin made up of mild steel

Copper sheets and wires

Vapour absorption refrigeration unit
1. Air cooled condenser

2.Capillary tube (expansion valve)

3.Evaporator

4.Cooling coil

5.Absorber tank

6.Coupling section ( act as a generator)

Modification made :
Special generator is not used

Instead the duct from the absorber is coupled with the

exhaust pipe

Coupled using copper sheets for better heat transfer

Working :
Ammonia and water mixture is stored in absorber tank

At the heat pump from the exhaust a heat of about 120c

is provided

Ammonia gets converted to high pressure and high

temperature vapour

After passing through condenser low temperature vapour

is feeded to evaporator through a capillary valve

Vapour expands in capillary valve and the input to

evaporator is low pressure low temperature vapour
At evaporator it absorbs the heat from atmosphere and
provide cooling

Then it passes through the cooling coil it gets converted to

semi liquid and is returned to absorber tank.

The cycle repeats.
