Demonstrate Ethical and Professional Behavior
Practice Behavior 1.1

Applying the NASW Code of Ethics Learning Objectives


Privacy and Confidentially-all clients staying at the shelter identities
and location is private and confidentially.
Respect- have respect for all the clients staying at the shelter.
Maintain and follow the rules, regulation, and policies of the agency
(Southeastern Family Violence Center).
Measuring my learning by: Documenting, Feedback.
Practice Behavior 1.2

Not being Non-judgmental to clients


Being more aware and educate myself on domestic violence.
Make sure I overcome them.

Communicate in professional manner.


Dress professionally.
Make sure to keep a professional behavior and manner while
working with the clients.

Answer the phones in a professional manner such as Southeastern
family violence center, how can I help you?
Agency computers make sure used them for work purposes only.

Practice Behavior 1.5

Having meetings one day out of the week with supervisor to see if I have
any concerns or questions about the rules and regulations of the agency.
Also make sure I know upcoming tasks for the next following weeks.
Always watch the supervisor and how they ask clients questions that
dose not make them uncomfortable.

the meetings for the upcoming next week.
Core Competency Two
Engage Diversity and Difference in Practice
Practice Behavior 2.6
Going to meetings in the community to form relationships to
understand the diversity in the domestic violence community, and
learning the practices behaviors.

Treating everyone equal at the shelter like for example regardless


the race, ethnicity, or partners.

Making sure I understand the boundaries of the clients and their needs
when working at the shelter.

Listening to the needs of the clients at the shelter, and making sure I
respect the clients boundaries at the shelter.

Make sure I reflect on my personal biases when it comes to


working with the clients.

Also during the meeting listen to the clients goals and occasionally
sharing with the clients to self-motivated them.

Practice Behavior 3.9
Connecting with different organization, and updating on human rights
of domestic violence.

We provide a safe environment at the shelter with the clients who are
homeless because of domestic violence and encourage them to file out
paperwork to stay in the shelter for 14 days then get an extinction for
15 more days to be place in housing.

Volunteering on the weekends at the shelter. Also attending


meeting like W. A. V.E.
We see that our clients ,who do seek out protection against
their abusers do go to court as well as evidence like photos,
using paper trail like documents against their abusers.

Psychological theory focus on personality traits and mental


characteristics of the offender. The theoretical approach,
characteristics associated with individuals who abuse their
partners include low self-esteem, isolation from social
support, a manipulative nature, and a desire for power and

Understanding the clients wanting to remain in a private


setting in the community having privacy and confidentially of
their identities, and making sure getting safe housing for the
clients. Applying some knowledge of person in environment,
and human behaviors.

having professional relationship. Also engaging with the
clients at the shelter in meeting their goals.

Making sure listening and comprehending the needs of the


clients who are in domestic violence. Using tools like reflection
and empathy.

documenting in notebook. Also to be empathetic to the clients
situation when it comes to their abuse.

Making sure the clients have support in the process of


information giving. Collecting and organize data, by
applying information to the clients on abuse.

safety plan.

Making sure to use on the clients empowerment perspective to


continue observing the clients overcoming from domestic
violence. Applying knowledge on human behavior and person-in
environment, making interventions with clients.

a safety plan to have.

In the empowerment, perspective making sure the clients is


meeting with the shelter coordinator for weekly goals meeting to
establish permitted housing. Agreement intervention on the goals
meeting with the clients at the shelter.

documenting in journal. Empowering clients with encouraging to
apply for housing and jobs.

In working with different organization that helps with domestic


violence clients to promote and support them through the
processes of the meetings. Interventions strategies based on
assessment with working knowledge and values.

In working with different organization that helps with
domestic violence clients to promote and support them
through the processes of the meetings. Implementing
interventions to achieve practice goals with the clients.

attending meetings. Different programs for clients because
they all have different abuse suitations.

Creating a goal-learning plan for the clients that support their


needs in domestic violence and safety housing and understanding
and to established safety housing from their abusers. Applying
human behavior and person- in- environment with interventions at
the shelter.

assessment. Be aware of the surrounding at the shelter for clients
and your safety.

Attending staff meeting, and different organizations meeting, makes


sure to work with staff members at the shelter.

The outcomes of programs like W.A.V.E and Choices to test


their knowledge and understanding about domestics violence.
Methods interventions with the clients at the shelter.

Measuring my learning by: Testing, and evaluating outcomes of


the programs. Services are provide at the office and shelter for
the cleints.

Making sure to make follow up phone calls to support their


needs, and making sure their homes are domestics violence
free.

Measuring my learning by: Phone calling, visiting clients, and


documenting results.

Updating the results of the data to provide accuracy in the


process and outcomes. Programs assessments and interventions
with process of outcomes.

keeping track of clients files and paperwork and activities that
they are connected too. For the office purpose.

Documenting the finding and results. Improving practices levels


like micro, mezzo, and macro to provide for the clients.

by supervision. Helping clients on daily level at the shelter, and
provide hands on experiences for the cleints.
