About Anemometers
An anemometer is a device used for measuring the speed of wind, and is
also a common weather station instrument.
There are portable anemometers and stationary anemometers, which are the
mostly used type.
The Alnor Rotating Vane RVA501 is a handheld digital rotating vane
anemometer that measures air velocity, air volume, and temperature
in imperial or metric units.
Functionality
The RVA501 is an essential tool for measuring unevenly distributed or
fluctuating flows through heating and cooling coils, diffusers, grilles, and
filter (mainly present in industries)
This can be used in heavy duty applications like measurement of hot/cold
air velocity in HVAC systems and heating and cooling coil analysis.
Other ideal applications include diffuser and grille measurements, indoor air
quality tests and filter face velocity measurements.
Construction
The RVA501 has the following dimensions for its ease of use
External Dimensions: 3.3 in. x 7.0 in. x 1.8 in.
(8.4 cm x 17.8 cm x 4.4 cm)
Size of hoods:
Rectangular hood 11.2 in. x 9.2 in.
Circular hood 7.1 in. diameter
Material used and Strength
The material used for the vane is anodized aluminium, with ball bearings
resulting in good construction quality.
Consists of a built-in electronic compass, hence delivering air/wind
directions along with velocities.
The outer body is made out of industrial grade polymer, hence guaranteeing
thermal stability during high temperature operations.
Quality and Cost
Since the materials used are of industrial grade, the RVA501 is in accordance
with high quality standards.
The RVA501 anemometer is priced at $865.
Reliability
The RVA501 produces accurate results, and hence no air density correction
factors are required to be applied.
It has the following range and accuracy which is represented below
Range: 50 to 6000fpm (0.25 to 30m/s)
Accuracy: 1% of reading
It has an instrument electronics temperature range of 5 to 65 degree Celsius.
Aesthetics and Ergonomics
Since there are rectangular and circular cones for directing air, the regions of
application of RVA501 is greatly extended and made easier to use.
This model is lightweight, robust and simple to use.
Its efficiency is increased by providing a log-store-recall data system. The
data measured can also be downloaded to a computer.
Handling and Sustainability
The RVA501 has an external meter dimensions of 3.3in*7.0in*1.8in, which is
a user friendly design and promises comfortable handling.
In case of air velocity measurements from a distance, an optional telescopic
handle is provided for easier handling.
The RVA501 is powered by 4 AA sized batteries, and an additional AC
adapter is provided in case of any emergency. Hence, extremely sustainable.
Safety and Maintanance
This device is extremely safe to use as it provides thermal insulation to the
user in case of a temperature spike or a thermal wind blast.
Alnor RVA501 offers a warranty period of 18 months in case of any
involuntary damage in electronic components, display unit as well as the
Aircone Flow Hoods.
