GHV booster sets

The GHV series are a variable speed

booster sets for water pressurization and
transfer in private and public buildings,
and to a water supply networks.

Performances
Max flow: up to 640 m/h
Head: up to 160 m

2
Why Boosters

Increase flow with demand

Increase pressure With Demand

5
Applications

Water network supply in buildings and industries:

o Condominiums
o Offices
o Resorts & Hotels
o Shopping malls
o Factories
o Golf courses
o Irrigation

Multi-users systems, where daily water consumption

varies frequently during the day and with different timing.
Constant pressure applications.
Supervised systems: possibility to remotely monitor
and control the system performances.

6
Benefits

Automatic pumps start/stop

Constant pressure
Pressure transducer controlled per pump
Soft pumps start/stop
Reduced noise
Water hammer reduction
Possibility for 2 different set points
Pump cycling

Easy installation
Compact solution
Vibration dumpers as standard
Trouble-free servicing
No downtime during maintenance/fault
Protection against dry running

7
Water supply and Booster systems
Constant pressure control

During the day, the water consumption

changes, but the pressure should always be
constant. Traditionally this problem is solved
by big vessels and pressure switches. Such
systems are still in use; however they are very
inefficient and waste precious energy.

By using variable speed driven pumps and

optimized Start/Stop of lag pumps (in
synchronous mode) based on demand, energy
savings of up to 40% can be realized. In this case
the pumps only deliver the power, required by the
system.

HYDROVAR - Concept
Hydrovar is easy to install on new
applications or retro-fitted to
existing applications, also
adaptable for for wall mount
applications.

No special motor required, can be mounted

on any standard TEFC motor!!

Why using variable speed pump?

For the 11kW

example the
payback period is
around 2 years
HYDROVAR - Applications

Constant pressure Control according to Constant flow Manual control

control a system curve control (actuator mode)

... plus others like constant level & constant temperature

Application: Advantages:
Drinking water and irrigation installations, Constant system pressure at variable
where constant system pressure is required flow rates with energy savings compared
at highly fluctuating consumption. with full speed applications.

All filter system versions for constant Prevention of excess flow rates and
filter loads, regardless to different cavitation and energy savings compared
pressure and contamination levels.. with throttle controls up to 50%.

RS485
Simple design of multiple pump units
(max. 8 pumps) by incorporated
processor and interface connection
(RS 485) which allows:

full redundancy within the system

cyclic change of lead and lag pumps

automatic start and stop of lag

pumps following the actual demand

synchronous mode option to run the

pumps with better efficiency

automatic switch over because of

pumps being out of order

integration into BMS systems possible

Automatic Test run for each pump separately

To prevent the freezing of the hydraulic stack, due to a too long stand still
period, an automatic test run can be programmed.
The delay time for the test run can be set for each pump separately and starts
automatically after the last stop of the appropriate pump.
Then the pump will start up to 30Hz for 20 seconds and then stops, by using
the ramps 1 and 2.
Settings between 10 and 100 hours are possible and calculated from the
OPERATING HOURS (supply OK to the HYDROVAR)!
2nd required value - internal
By using an external switch, or an irrigation
controller, you can change over between 2
different pressure settings.
For irrigation of 2 different levels!

Zone 1,
irrigation + water supply

Zone 2,
irrigation +water supply
HYDROVAR Benefits

energy savings starter
reduction of CO2 no extra control valves
production required

Each pump gives you the full information about

its actual status:
actual pressure
actual frequency
which pump is actual lead/lag pump
required pressure - standard or 2nd req. Value
detailed failure message in case of some problems
last 5 failures happened on this one special pump

MODBUS interface included as standard

Remote required value
By using an external analogue signal (4-
20mA or 0-10V), you can remotely control
the pressure setting of the Hydrovar booster
station.
By using a BMS-system!
