“The Lord is my shepherd, I shall never want”

Psalm 23.1

DEALING WITH ANXIETY

Psalm 23 – It’s not about you

A Lamb
It goes through death
It ends up sitting at the Father’s table
It has its head anointed with oil
It is followed by goodness and love
It dwells in the Father’s place forever
All that – to assure a place for you at
the Father’s table
Psalm 23 – It’s NOW about you
"The Lord is my shepherd, I shall
never want" (Psalm 23.1)

"God is my provider! I don't need a

thing."
Worry is not good for your health
Worry doesn’t solve your problems
Worry steals useful time from you
Worry makes your problem bigger
How do we stop worrying?
Where does our provision come
from?
Every perfect and good gift comes
from the Father of the heavenly lights
James 1:17
"I am the good shepherd. The good
shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.”
John 10:11
1. A shepherd provides.
He provides food, shelter, the basic necessities for his
sheep.

2. A shepherd protects.
He defends against enemies, harm.

3. A shepherd guides.
He leads sheep when they're confused and don't know
which way to go.

4. A shepherd corrects.
Any problem that comes along, he corrects it.
He who did not spare his own Son, but gave
him up for us all—how will he not also, along
with him, graciously give us all things?
Romans 8:32
We get anxious when we can’t see it

Why can’t we see it?

When the servant of the man of God got up
and went out early the next morning, an
army with horses and chariots had
surrounded the city. "Oh, my lord, what
shall we do?" the servant asked.
"Don't be afraid," the prophet answered.
"Those who are with us are more than
those who are with them.“
And Elisha prayed, "O LORD, open his eyes
so he may see." Then the LORD opened the
servant's eyes, and he looked and saw the
hills full of horses and chariots of fire all
around Elisha.
2 Kings 6:15-17
How can we have our eyes opened?
The LORD is my shepherd
The root behind all of your
worry is a fear that you are not in
control.

We worry when we try to control

what is uncontrollable
His divine power has given us everything
we need for life and godliness through
our knowledge of him who called us by
his own glory and goodness.
2 Peter 1:3
"Jesus said, `I am the good shepherd... my
sheep know me ... they listen to my voice, and
they follow me.“
John 10:14, 27

Do not be anxious about anything, but in
everything, by prayer and petition, with
thanksgiving, present your requests to
God. And the peace of God, which
transcends all understanding, will guard
your hearts and your minds in Christ
Jesus.
Philippians 4:6,7
"Cast all of your anxiety on him
because he cares for you."

And my God will meet all your needs
according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4:19
Not that I am looking for a gift, but I am
looking for what may be credited to your
account. I have received full payment and
even more; I am amply supplied, now that
I have received from Epaphroditus the gifts
you sent. They are a fragrant offering, an
acceptable sacrifice, pleasing to God. And
my God will meet all your needs according
to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus.
