THERMOPLASTIC EFFECT AS SOFT AGGREGATTE
FOR CONCRETE MIXTURE

Abstract
This study defuse the crisis in a non-biodegradable thermoplastic
decomposition as well as an increase in construction materials to solve the
problem of accumulation of garbage. On the whole, this research study discusse
s the interests of the ecosystem and building construction to improve using
plastics in building materials. The building materials in the form of concrete use
manufacture plastic aggregate.
In this study used plastic pieces to mix concrete, where it replaces 5%
of fine aggregate, which is sand. It then undergoes an investigation to examine
whether it could pass the power or at least equal to the standard specification
of the concrete mix for the wall panels. Experiments that passes water test
content, density, slump tests, sieve analysis, compression test and bending test

Introduction
Several studies have been conducted on the use of plastic waste in the ma

Basically, this study begins on concerns about the increasing number of pla
stic waste in the environment. Seeing this situation, plastic waste received special atte
ntion and concern from various parties in the field of environment and health.

B. FLEXIBILITY

The test from day 7th until 21th flexibility of concre

te speciment rised at day 21th to 3.57 Mpa. But at
day 28th speciment failed to reach maximum flexibi
lity of concrete. The cause is in mixture of ceme
nt, sand, pebble and water. Possibility to placed too
much water during assimilation f concrete.

D. Analysis Temperature of Plastics Thermoplastics

Thermoplastic need heat to make them formable after cooli
ng to retain their shape. These materials can be heated and reform
ed into a new form on several times without any significant change
s in their character. Most of thermoplastics consist of very long mai
n chain of carbon atoms covalently. Sometimes nitrogen, oxygen or
sulfur atoms covalently also in the main molecular chain.

E. Specific Gravity
An experiment is used to determine the density and absorption of
water by the soft aggregate in various mixtures.
F. Screening analysis
The first step is conduct a sieve analysis to determine the particle
size distribution from the soft and coarse aggregates. Researchers crushed p
ieces of thermal plastic to separate using sieve analysis. The particle size an
d the maximum size of the aggregate is important on research because of t
heir effect on the relative proportions influence, ability to work, the econom
y, and the porosity and shrinkage of aggregate.

Conclusion
We can reduce plastic waste that have accumulated in the environment by converting
to a mixture of concrete to support the construction of the development. Through se
veral stages of the trial that is testing the water content of aggregates, specifications
gravity and water absorption aggregate, sieve analysis, slump test, manufacture and
maintenance of the concrete test specimens in the laboratory, the specimen cylinder
density, and flexibility.
It can be concluded that the researchers justify or support the use of thermoplastics (
plastic waste material) in concrete mix. Thermoplastic is economically feasible compar
ed with fine aggregate since the study focused only on material that was considered
waste and the so-called 'virgin' plastic which can be very expensive when change into
the sand. Value to the plastic will add jobs even for people who live in slums where
most of the plastic waste scattered..
