What is Rainwater Harvesting?
The principle of collecting and using precipitation (rainwater) from a
catchment surface is called rainwater harvesting. It takes few days to several
centuries to replenish and recharge the rain water in the aquifers in ground.
There are two main techniques of rainwater harvestings:
i. Storage of rainwater on surface for future use.
ii. Artificial Recharge to ground water.
The roof areas of about 400 m2 form presently the catchment for the RWH
structure at this site. At present the conveyance for the runoff from the
rooftop from boys hostel and the electronic building is complete and feeds to
the existing recharge.
