CHRISTIAN FELLOWSHIP

"And let us consider how we may spur one

another on toward love and good deeds.
Let us not give up meeting together, as
some are in the habit of doing, but let us
encourage one another and all the more
as you see the day approaching".

Hebrews 10:24-25
What is fellowship?

Fellowship - translated from the greek word

"koinonia", which means "belonging in
common to". The idea behind the word is
that one person participates with another
in something that is possessed in common
by both.

- to share ourselves in common interest.

What is CHRISTIAN fellowship?

- It is based on our common relationship

with Christ.
-It is much deeper, sweeter, than any
secular meetings.
-It means spiritual communion, a joint
partnership, a joint sharing and mutual
partakers.
Basis of Christian fellowship

"But if we walk in the light, as He is in the

light, we have fellowship with one another,
and the blood of Jesus His Son, purifies us
from all sin."
I John 1:7

So here we could see, Christian fellowship is

based on an intimate relationship with
Christ and His Family
With whom do we have
fellowship?
1. With the Father and the Son

"We proclaim to you what we have seen and

heard, so that you may also have
fellowship with us. And our fellowship is
with the Father with His Son, Jesus
Christ."
1 John 1:3
With whom do we have
fellowship?

2. With Fellow Christians

1 John 1:3,7 fellowship with apostles,

disciples, and believers.
Why must we have
fellowship with others?
"Let us not give up meeting together as
some are in the habit of doing"
Hebrews 10:25

Fellowship is God's ordained order for

mankind.
How do we have fellowship?

-by getting together for church worship.

-by getting together at home.

-by setting group Bible studies after work at

workplace or at school in small cell group.

-we can have fellowships at home, at the

coffee shop or in a restaurant.
" Fellowship is often sweetest if 2 or 3 come
together in His name" ( Matthew 18:20 For
where two or three come together in my
name, there am I with them.)

Even two people can have a fellowship..

even when riding in a car.

Jesus and the two disciples had an excellent

fellowship on the Emmaus Road. (Refer to
Luke 24:32)
And they (the Saints in the Jerusalem
church) continued steadfastly in the
apostles' doctrine and fellowship in
breaking of bread and in prayers. (Refer to
Acts 2:42)
Purpose of fellowship
1. To encourage and strengthen each other.

"But encourage one another daily, as long as it is

called today, so that none of you may be
hardened by sin's deceitfulness"
Hebrews 3: 13
"And let us consider how we may spur one another
on toward love and good deeds. Let us not give
up meeting together, as some are in the habit of
doing, but let us encourage one another and all
the more as you see the day approaching".

Hebrews 10:24-25
Purpose of fellowship
2. To Share Experiences

3. To Manifest our joys

"And call upon me in the day of trouble, I will
deliver you, and you will honor me"
Psalm 15:50
Purpose of fellowship

4. To weep with them that weep.

"Rejoice with those who rejoice, mourn with

those who mourn."
Romans 12:15
Purpose of fellowship

5. To exhort the backslider.

6. To Preach the Gospel to the

nonbelievers.
With Whom is Fellowship
Denied?
1. Devils

"No, but the sacrifices of Pagans are offered

to Demons, not to God. And I do not want
you to be participants with demons".
1 Corinthians 10:20
With Whom is Fellowship
Denied?
2. The Unfruitful Works of darkness

"Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds

of darkness, but rather expose them."
Ephesians 5:11
Results of Christian
Fellowship

to the Lord's will. (Refer to 1 John 1:7)

of His resurrection and the fellowship of
sharing His sufferings becoming like Him
in his death. )

(Galatians 5:13 ... Rather serve one
another in love.)
Results of Christian
Fellowship
4.We learn to comfort one another.
(1Thessalonians 4:18 Therefore
encourage each other with these words)
5. We learn to pray for one another
(1Thessalonians 5:25 Brothers pray for us)
6. We learn to bear one another's burdens.
(Galatians 6:2 Carry each others burdens
and in this way you wil fulfill the law of
Christ.)
Results of Christian
Fellowship
7. We learn to rejoice with the joyful.
(Romans 12:15 Rejoice with those who
rejoice, mourn with those who mourn.)

3:18 But grow in the grace and knowledge
of our Lord and savior Jesus Christ.)

believers is an essential part of a growing
relationship with God. He commands us to
build relationship with other Christians in
order to give and receive love and
encouragement.
