Reconstructionism
Researched Information
Reconstructionism hold that knowledge is not passively received: rather it
is actively built by the learner as he or she experiences the world.

Primary objective of education is to rebuild society in order the cultural

crisis of our age.

Student based

Focused on the overall betterment of society

Summary
My strongest philosophy is Reconstructionism. I learned that schools should take the lead to
reconstruct society. Schools should have more than a responsibility to transmit knowledge,
they should transform society as well.
My weakest philosophy is Essentialism and Perennialism. These are my weakest because
both of them just focus on knowledge. While I do believe knowledge is very important, I
also believe social involvement, development, and betterment of the world is also important.
In my personal experiences in working with safekey, I learned that it is very essential that a
child grows and develops their choices with the guidance of a teacher. Every student should
have free will and their own choice in life. They should also be taught things that may
interest them and not just knowledge like math, reading, and writing,.
My future students will not only be taught knowledge such as the basic subjects. But will
also learn how can they be involved with the world and how can they make it better if that is
what they want to do or accomplish
