INTRODUCTION

The Fourier transform is an extension of the Fourier series that results when the
period of the represented function is lengthened and allowed to approach
infinity. A Fourier transform is a mathematical technique that use integral
transformation of f(t) from the time domain to the frequency domain. Fourier
transform is being used widely in the engineering field especially when it
related to sinusoidal signal.

ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING
In Electrical Engineering, there are several instances where one deals with
signals (waveforms) and manipulations of signals. The manipulation may be any
operation such as addition, multiplication, differentiation, integration and others.
This manipulation maybe a result of a tangible electrical circuit (RC, LC, RLC)

ACOUSTICS
Acoustics is the branch of physics concerned with the study of sound. The term
is derived from the Greek akoustos, meaning hearing.
Application loudness, sound pressure and decibels, pitch sound, digital sound
Method Applying - Pulse Code Modulation (PCM). The audio signal is
sampled at regular intervals and the sampled values stored in a suitable
number format.

PULSE CODE MODULATION (SAMPLING THEOREM)

Sampling is the process of taking the samples of the signal at the interval.
Aliasing is an effect that causes different signals to become indistinguishable
from each other during sampling.
To avoid aliasing, the input signal must be sampled at a rate of at least twice
the highest frequency component of interest within the input signal.

CONCLUSION
Circuits are driven by non-sinusoidal periodic functions. The Fourier Transform
was applied to find the steady state response of a circuit to a non-sinusoidal
periodic excitation requires the application of a Fourier Series, ac phasor
analysis and superposition principles. The Fourier transform generalizes the
phasor technique to non-periodic functions.
