Renaissance Period
The word renaissance comes from the word,
renaitre, which means, rebirth.
Common subject is Human Philosophy
Famous artists were Michelangelo, Leonardo
Da Vinci, Raphael, and Donatello
Baroque Period
More elaborate and full of emotion.
Developed in Europe around 1600s
Famous artists were Caravaggio, Rubens,
Velasquez, Rembrandt, and Bernini.
Renaissance Period (1400-1600)
Characterized by accurate anatomy, scientific
perspective and deeper landscape.
Depicted real-life figures and their sculpture were
naturalistic portraits of human beings.
Classical Greeks believed in the harmonious
development of the person through a sound
mind, by the practice of athletics, the
Renaissance held up the ideal of the well-
rounded man, knowledgeable in number of fields
Period of artistic experimentation
Marks the transition of Europe from medieval
period to early modern age
The greatest cathedral building of the age was
the rebuilding of St. Peters Basilica in Rome.
