 Methyl isocyanate (MIC) gas leaked from a plant owned,
managed and operated by Union Carbide India Limited
(UCIL)
 Released 42 tonnes of toxic methyl isocyanate (MIC) gas
 Over 500 000 people were exposed to methyl isocyanate
(MIC) gas and other chemicals
 Gas leak caused extensive damage to environment
surrounding the Union Carbide factory
