Written by Rudyard Kipling
Rudyard was born in India & lived there till he was 6, then moved to England,
following back to India & then Vermot in the United States of America
He was a white middle classed privileged man, middle social class perspective
Written for his young daughter -Josephine- who at the age of 6 died from
Pneumonia
The stories were first published in magazines in 1893/4
The book followed the year after it’s magazine release --- 1894

Although still aimed towards kids the trailer features action packed, more mature shots in
order to appeal to teenagers
Includes less ‘musical’ parts (i.e. Singing) to entice older viewers
Various fighting shots or shots involving danger, may appeal more so to a male target
audience
Disney relates the film in the trailer to ‘The Pirates Of The Caribbean’, this takes away the
classic ‘Disney’ connotations so that its more appealing to older teenagers/ young adults
