Climate Change is now felt by people around the world and even in the
Philippines. Tropical Storm Ondoy (international codename: Ketsana) on September 25,
2009 causes a lot of destructions to properties. At least 10 people were reported dead or
more than 1,800 were forced to evacuate. Many homes have gone wasted. Former
President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo even declared a state of calamity in Metro Manila and
in 25 Luzon provinces as heavy rains brought by the storm caused the worst flooding
seen in the capital in some 20 years. Close to 2,000 people in different areas in Metro
Manila were forced to flee their homes and major thoroughfares were closed to traffic.

Introduction
The Monsoon rains last August 6, 2012 that strike the Metro
Manila causes 95 death casualties and a total number of affected people
rose to 4 million. According to the report of the National Disaster Risk
Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC), a total of 95 people have
been confirmed dead, 68 of whom were due to drowning. Twelve of the
deaths were due to landslides, four due to electrocution, three due to a
lightning strike, three to heart attack, two to fallen trees, and one was due
to a nervous breakdown. Two deaths were still of undetermined causes,
the NDRRMC said. (Philippine Daily Inquirer, 2012)
Introduction
To avoid electrocution, power was cut in many parts of the city as a
protective measure in some districts to prevent people attempting to escape
the floodwaters from being electrocuted by fallen lines. But during those
times, communication lines should always be open, always listening to radios
and flash light are very important. But how can communication lines be open
all the time if the power was cut down? How can they listen to the radio if the
batteries are all out and how can the flash lights be used during night time for
how many days if they cannot charge the battery? Power is very important
during typhoon but because of unavoidable circumstances, power should be
cut down.

4. Introduction
○General objective – this is related to the problem as given in the early part of the section.
●3. How long will the charging of the Solar Portable Outlet
(SPO) last using solar panel?
●4. Is there a significant difference between the charging time
in minutes of the cellular phone, laptop and flashlight using
SPO and the electric power produced by the Palawan Electric
Cooperative (PALECO).
Hypothesis
Using a saw, cut a one-inch thick ply board into six pieces: the front and the back,
each measuring 6 inches by 7 inches; the upper and the lower cover, each measuring 8 inches
by 9 inches; and the sides, both measures 8 inches by 9 inches. Connected all the pieces
except the front cover to form an open box using 2-inch nails and a hammer. Connected the
front cover of the box using two hinges. This served as the door of the rectangular case. Cut
another ply board (9 inches in length and 6 inches in width) which served as the divider of
the case. Connected it using a 2-inch nail and hammer. At a side of the case, made a
rectangular hole where the outlet can fit using driller. Placed a screw at the case’s door using
a screw driver to serve as the handle.

5. Methodology
b. Treatment/General procedure – the manner and
sequence by which each experiment or set of observations were done
and how measurements were obtained should be described in detail.
Avoid using the “recipe style” when stating the step-by-step
procedure, use the narrative form in the past tense.
Methodology Procedure

watts laptop
Methodology
Charging a 3.5
watts cell phone
