SESSION -1

 Method of Excavation

 Objective:

 At the end of the session ,the


participants will be able to enumerate
the methods of excavation by
answering correctly at least 6 of the
10 items lest 5 minutes.
Session 2

 Backfilling and Compacting


Procedures
 Objective:
 At the end of the session, the
participants will be able to
enumerate the correct
procedures of backfilling and
compacting within 5 minutes
given time:
Excavation

 Is simply digging of the soil after


establishing the final marking of
the building outline on the ground.
Excavation work for building
construction is categorized into
two:

 1. Shallow Excavation
 2. Deep Excavation
Shallow Excavation

 This includes wall footing ,independent or


isolated footing and combined footing.
Shallow excavation occupies the biggest
percentage of works in the field of
construction wherein digging of the soil
extended down to a dept of 1.50 meters.

 There are factors to be considered in


the process which when overlook Might
result to waste materials , time and labor
for correction and adjustment.
When the ground is rolling or sloped, the following
problems would be encountered:

1. What dept shall be excavated for


each of the different footings when
the plan is on a level ground.

2. How deep shall the excavation be


the wall footing and where shall the
excavation be based?
PERFORM EXCAVATION AND BACK FILLING/ COMPACTION

 Excavation work is performed based on Job specification


1. Excavation should be in accordance to the technical specification
or approved technical plan on the deft of the wall footing.
2. Establish the natural ground level down to depthness of footing.

 Excavated portion is filled with gravel based coarse


1. Prepared gravel based coarse to be filled at excavated area.
2. Lay gravel based coarse on the wall footing foundation.
3. Level the based coarse with minimum of 10.cm./4 inches.
4. Manual compacting /plate compacting is done.
