DIAGNÓSTICO
MANEJO
Es un proceso inflamatorio que
afecta fundamentalmente la
unidad respiratoria terminal, que
es causada por diversos agentes
etiológicos infecciosos y no
infecciosos.
La neumonía infecciosa es una
inflamación aguda de los
pulmones causada por un
microorganismo.

British Thoracic Society Community Acquired Pneumonia in Adults Guideline Group
In one study, complete resolution of chest radiographic changes occurred at 2 weeks after
initial presentation in 51% of cases, in 64% by 4 weeks and 73% at 6 weeks.
Over 70 years of age showed 35%, 60% and 84% radiographic resolution at 3, 6
and 12 weeks, respectively.
C-reactive protein (CRP) levels 200 mg/l were also linked to slower radiographic resolution
Pneumonia caused by atypical pathogens clears more quickly than pneumonia caused by
bacterial infection.
´´There are no characteristic features of the chest radiograph in CAP that
allows a confident prediction of the likely pathogen.´´

AMBULATORIO:
HOSPITALIZADO:
HOSPITALIZADO:
their symptoms should steadily improve, although the rate of improvement will vary
with the severity of the pneumonia, and most people can expect that by:
4 weeks: chest pain and sputum production should have substantially reduced
3 months: most symptoms should have resolved but fatigue may still be present
